file under = bad idea. Metal version of “Such Great Heights” by the Postal Service.
UGH. i suppose it’s a testament to how great this song is that this band can kick it in the face repeatedly and it’s still listenable at times. just awfulness.

“Modern Mystery” - Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin
sarahspy mentioned this band in her 2008 top 20 albums list, and i was instantly mad at myself for not going to see them at The Replay Lounge the week before. They’re from MO…so i figured they were just doing a local sweep tour… oops. won’t make the same mistake again.
lovely little song with a nice build. love the guitar work on this.

“Mona Skips Breakfast” - Small
One of my favorite tunes from the 90s. the drums are a little high in the mix…but it sort of works for me, even though the rest of the band probably threw a fit when they heard the final mix. heh. you should find this record, though. it’s worth the effort.

Pitchfork: P2K: The Decade in Music
A massive collection of tunes form pitchfork. And somehow I’m completely ok with the fact that it’s sponsored by Haagen-Dazs.
i’m not completely on board with Pitchfork…but i do enjoy lists like this.
